If there’s one thing I think we can all agree upon here, it’s that coffee is life. Especially when you’ve been wrangling kids since 6 AM and need to make it through the day with both eyes open. Of course, when it comes to coveted beverages, wine also deserves a special shout-out for providing us with some much-needed chill at the end of a long, hard day.
But what if I told you that you could soon have both of your favorite bevvies at once? As in, right in the same glass.
Thanks to Apothic Red Wines, a wine infused with cold-brew coffee will be coming to a glass near you this weekend, with its release of Apothic Brew on April 1.

“Apothic is no stranger to creating interesting new blends — from the launch of the distinctive category leader Apothic Red to our smooth Apothic Crush and our most recent hit, Apothic Inferno, a red blend aged in whiskey barrels,” said Christine Jagher, Apothic’s Director of Marketing, in a press release from the company. “We’ve always sought to break the mold to bring our fans products w e know they w ill love. Apothic Brew is a game changer that offers the best of both worlds — cold brew and wine — and I can’t wait for people to try it.”
Um, I can’t wait to try it, either.
Granted, some beverage combos aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. (I mean, a few years back I tried the Diet-Coke-and-wine trend people were talking about, and it was a pretty sad letdown.) But hey, so far 2018 has blessed us with Girl Scout cookie-flavored Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, so let’s not knock it ’til we’ve tried it.
According to the company, cold brew coffee utilizes “more coffee grounds than traditional coffee, requiring a significantly longer and more delicate steep” — which apparently is what helps give it that “smooth texture” And when combined with a lush red wine, “the result is a taste that captures the smooth mouth feel and velvety chocolate notes of cold brew with the juicy blackberry characteristics of a dark red wine.”

“Last year during the long hours of harvest, I joined the cold brew craze myself,” said Deb Juergenson, Apothic Winemaker. “Quickly, I realized that many of the characteristics in cold brew coffee and red wine naturally complement each other. This led us to experiment with a few blends, eventually leading to the seamless creation of Apothic Brew, which brings together red fruit notes and subtle mocha essences of cold brew.”
