For their upcoming biopic about the life of Toni Braxton, Lifetime have cast newcomer Lex Scott Davis to portray the singer.
In September it was announced that Lifetime would be producing an authorized biopic about Toni Braxton based on her 2014 memoir, Unbreak My Heart: The Toni Braxton Story, and now sources are revealing they have cast the lead.
The Daily Mail reports that insiders say Baltimore native Lex Scott-Davis will be stepping in to the limelight to play the Toni, the eldest of the Braxton sisters.
From to a source in Hollywood, miseeharris.com has learned that Scott-Davis had a farewell party in the entertainment capital on the weekend with friends, including the cast of a stage play she appeared in earlier this year.
She has flown to Vancouver with the rest of the cast to begin working on the Lifetime movie.
Scott-Davis is no stranger to the world of R&B. The Baltimore-raised actress is the niece of singer and producer Rico Love, who has worked with stars including Usher, Nelly, Kelly Rowland, Chris Brown, Fergie and Beyoncé.
According to the announcement from Lifetime, Toni Braxton is a producer on the film about her life. It will cover a lot of personal details from her past life, from her financial woes and health issues to being the mother of a child who has autism.
